Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands has returned to Ibrox after failing to win a move to Middlesbrough.

The Gers had hoped to get the Dane off the wage bill so new players could be signed.

A £600,000 fee had been agreed in principle but the 25-year-old failed to win over Boro boss Steve McClaren over a two-day training spell.

McClaren told The Sun: "We have had a look at Peter over the last few days and he is a very good lad.

"However, we aren't interested in doing anything at the moment. Peter has gone back up to Rangers and we will keep an eye on him with the possibility of something happening in the future."
