Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira could miss Sunday's Premiership clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Vieira sustained an ankle injury against Aston Villa last weekend and was unable to travel for Wednesday's Champions League tie away to Panathinaikos.

To make matters worse, however, the French midfielder could also miss the game at Old Trafford, where he was sent off so controversially last season.

Manager Arsene Wenger revealed: "Patrick had a scan yesterday and it looks much better than expected but it still looks like he will be short for Sunday.

"He is not definitely out but I would rule him as having only an 80% chance of playing. Gilberto Silva is 100% out with a back injury."
