Flames beaten by hosts in scorching tempratures 4-1

The Flames returned to action this weekend in the Lombard Pheonix Invitational pre season Tournament. In tempratures of 90+ the Flames Conceeded 5 goals and only managed to score 1 thanks to an impressive curler from big anj near the end of play. The score line was very harsh on the Flames who, at times played some very good football. All of the goals were due to silly errors and after the 3rd goal, a few heads dropped in the mid day sun, But alot of positives can be taken from the first game played as a team.
The 2 trialists Bret Cox and Luke Leghorn both played the majority of the game and proved that they can contend for a place in the team. The Flames pre season fitness preperations worked wonders as alot of the team matched, if not bettered the opposition for fitness. The biggest positive is that the whole team showed alot of diversity and depth as the team was changed around alot to let people play in different roles.

The Flames next game is sunday 12th August 2007 at the Normabeau where they will try and pick themselves up and start again.
