Twinwoods manager has released a brief statement with regards to his thoughts on the up coming season and tomorrows opening fixture.

The season is almost upon us, with other clubs from our Division already getting their first games under their belts on saturday. Mondays opposition Wilstead Reserves beat Marsh Leys 2-1 to take all 3 points proving they are not a team to under estimate.

Other scores from Division 3 saw a high scoring game where Excel lost 5-8 to Lidlington Reserves - two contenders for the bottom of league. And you will be pleased to know Flitwick Reserves lost 3-0 to Meltis Corinthians.

But back to our first game. New Manager Neil Hannam said although he was given the rare opportunity of selecting from over 20 lads for this fixture, it was also very encouraging to see so many players battle for the starting positions. The squad had trained hard during the summer and were looking hungry. Hannam had spent most of his transfer budget during the last 3 weeks of the transfer window to double the size of his squad.

When asked about his players ability and whether they can battle for promotion Hannam replied we are more than acapable of winning this Division, but it will take a consitent side to win this Division. I am particularly looking forward to seeing our new boys in action, especially young Ali, Alex The Kid and Ben who have shown great signs of improvement since last season and proved they can compete at this level.

No matter how much we prepare for this game, it comes down to those 11 lads who will start tomorrow night - they will need to battle hard and show numbers in attack and defence.

It is expected that a number of Wilstead 1st team players would feature in this fixture.
