Wonder Strike Wins Game For Div.4 Rivals As Woodwork Denies Tofty Late On

Imps 0
NK Rangers 1

The Imps battled bravely against their fellow OBDSFL Division 4 rivals, NK Rangers, in the 7th/8th LIC Play-Off game, but ultimately went down to a single goal, which was a goal good enough to win any game, let alone a LIC play-off struck midway through the first half by the NK Rangers player, who took advantage of a defensive clearance and the Imps defence not putting enough pressure on the ball to fire home a peach beyond Mark into the top-left corner, which secured 7th Place in the 2007 LIC and also take revenge for the Imps Pre-LIC 6-3 friendly victory at Warbanks.

Al named a familiar lineup as Jase, Mike, Kev and Rickey all made their returns to the Imps starting lineup with a Imps debut for Trialist Leon, a colleague of Kav and Cookie, whilst Imps Cult Hero, Smithy would be making his final scheduled appearance for the Imps before his move to University

The Imps failed to take any chances which they created within the 90 mins and came close to securing an equaliser late on as Tofty hit the crossbar from a set-piece, but the Imps streak of not winning a game extends to four competitive games after what was a promising start to the LIC with 2 wins against Lombard Phoenix Res and D1 Masters.

With the OBDSFL season beginning next Sunday after what can only be described as the most eventful pre-season ever in Imps history, the Imps under their new Gaffer, Al, will be hoping to continue their most promising aspects of Pre-Season, whilst ironing out all the issues which surrounded the new management team which eventually led to Jase stepping down from the initial two-tier management system put in place at the start of the pre-season campaign and as always when the season kicks off, the cry of Forza Il Imps will be heard at Langley Park as the Imps aim to win their third successive opening day League victory.
