Match Report from the 3-3 Cup Group Match Draw

Within a couple of minutes, Robert Hall had their first chance, with a player running through for a one on one with the keeper, for Andy to pull off a fine one handed save when it looked like the Martyrs were going to get off to their usual bad start.

Robert Hall dominated the early early stages, with their quick passing and physical approach working well against sluggish Martyrs. Midway through the 1st half, though, a cross from the right eluded the Robert Hall defence to fall at the feet of Shane Loach, who blasted the bobbling ball inches over the bar.

Martyrs then made the breakthrough. Tim Robinson closed down the Robert Hall left back, blocking the clearance. The ball broke to Ollie Imbush, who took the ball into the area and fizzed a low cross along the six yard box, with a Robert Hall defender deflecting the ball away. Tom Fryer met the ball 10 yards out, hitting it goalwards with his left. His younger brother Jacob made a telling deflection and the ball nestled neatly in the bottom right hand corner of the net giving him his second goal in only his second ever game for Martyrs.

It wasnt long until Robert Hall were level, with a player racing in to meet a corner neatly with his left foot as it dropped in the six yard area.

Afew minuted before the break, Shane Loach, from wide on the left, passed along the edge of the box for Tim Robinson to sidefoot the ball inches wide of the righthand upright.

The 2nd half started with Robert Hall slightly on top, but it wasnt long before Will Crawford was racing clear from the keepers long clearance to calmly sidefoot the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Again, though, Martyrs lead didnt last long. Robert Hall put their big centre half up front.
He cottoned on to a lose ball on the edge of the area, danced around a couple of defenders, but his shot was well blocked by the keeper. The ball fell to the defenders feet and he tried again. The 2nd effort was blocked by a Martyrs defender, but his third looped in over a stretching Jay. 2.2.

Martyrs launched an attack, with Shane Loach putting in a deep cross, which Ollie Imbush, stretching, headed onto the bar. Will Crawford then crashed the rebound over from 8 yards.

It wasnt long before Martyrs were in front again, though. A goalkick from Andy was flicked on by Tim Robinson, with Ollie Imbush racing onto the ball and beating the keeper with an audaciously accurate high lob into the back of the net. Robert Halls appeals for offside fell on deaf ears.
With about 10 minutes to go, though, Robert Hall had the final say. A ball into the box was badly fumbled by Martyrs keeper and in the resulting melee, the ball somehow found its way into over the line to make it 3.3.

Both teams tried their hardest to break the deadlock towards the end, but a draw was probably a fair result
