Defeats have been a rarity in division five leaders New Whitts 200/78 season but their second one came along at Devonshire who beat them by two goals to one. This was an outstanding victory for Devonshire and came courtesy of goals from Adam Lomas and Dave Kelly, New Whitts reply also coming from a Devonshire player who scored in his own goal. Grouse Old Boys and Elmton Road Social were in top goal scoring form, both scoring five times to beat K D Westend reserves and Brampton Manor respectively. The Grouse victory featured goals from Dave Carr, Lee Walker, Christian Fieldhouse and Dan Ward who scored two, the margin of victory being five goals to nil. Elmton did concede two but strikes from Mark Tyson who scored twice and Greg Lowde, Gavin Steele and Richard Bleakley won the day. Castle Arms could not quite match the scoring feats of the previous two winners but four goals did them nicely, coming as they did against Black Swan who drew a blank. Ant Lyne and Wayne Bexton are regulars on the score sheet for Castle and so it was again, Lyne scoring two, Bexton one and Chris Graham joining the party with a fourth.
