Hurst Green won through to their first ever Lancashire Amateur Cup Final after their third penalty shoot-out success in this years competition, Danny Taylor sending the Green Army faithful into raptures.

After meeting each other only a week ago, both teams lined up similarly with Greens only change being Stuart Malley returning to the middle of midfield in place of Danny Taylor. Canberra made a couple of changes with Blackburn coming in up front and keeper Mark Proctor coming in between the sticks. The pitch surprisingly passed a pitch inspection prior to kick off with the temperature perilously close to freezing point but on closer inspection was not a bad surface.

This Wednesday (17th) sees two rivals and East Lancashire League sides battle it out for a place in the Lancs Cup final.

The match will take place at Padiham FCs The Arbories ground and the game kicks off at 7.30pm.

Division 1 runners-up Worsthorne were unceremoniously dumped out of the Lancs Cup at the first hurdle as they were soundly beaten 3-0 by Wigan-based side Weavers. Other East Lancs casualties were Read whose decent start to the campaign was temporarily halted as they were thrashed at Rossendale Amateurs.

Hurst Green were edged out by the holders Little Lever 2-1 in what was a great match. Green did well to make the tie competitive after playing for the best part of an hour with ten men after Olly Bolton got his marching orders for a late tackle.
