Bob Potts View on the weekends results league and cup

Hi and welcome to this weeks View and a Happy New Year to all.

In true OBDSFL fashion, today saw the 3rd Round of the Charity Cup which happens around the same time as the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. My predictions seem to have caused a few mutterings and the first team to prove me wrong was Milldean as they ended any further interest from my tip, Goldsmiths United, with a good 2-0 win. Lessa Albion ended Eltham Progress interest in the Charity Cup this season with a 2-0 win as well whilst Valley Valiants went down 5-6 after extra time against Cup battlers Cudham United who caused a Rnd 3 upset in this 11 goal thriller. FC Poverest were beaten 1-3 by Eltham Town United and Masters were not able to hold Senior Division Midfield who won 2-3 after extra time. Keyworth trounced Eltham Town United Res as they won very comfortably 8-2 and Freelands were outplayed by Defiance 0-6 to end any hopes there. Centresports cruised gently into the next round with a 3-0 win over Prince of Wales and Bromley Town were outgunned by Eden Park Rangers 0-2. Over at Midway Pat Neenan saw his boys beat Petts Wood 1-3 and Centresports Res battled, but could not hold, Vista as they lost 0-1. Suntan Mark Freemans old side Viking Strollers had a rare loss these days as they went down 1-2 to Duke 94 and Paul Birch went out 0-4 to Chelsfield Old Boys. Finally, the Referees Secretary went over to ref Griffin Sports and Catford CC and had lots of exercise as the match went to extra time with the score at 1-1 and then penalties with no change in the score. Catford eventually won 1-3 after pens.

In the Smales Cup EPR Res emulated the first team as they won 2-1 against Orpington Rovers. Fairfield Res were no match for Blackfen Rovers and lost 0-8 whilst Fairfield went down 3-4 on pens after 2-2 at full time and 3-3 at extra time to North Kent Rangers bit of a rollercoaster that !! Sydenham Sports cruised to a tidy 7-2 win over SE 20 and Ex Blues Res lost out 3-5 after being 2-0 up against Crescent. British Queen started the New Year quietly as they sunk 1-5 against AFC Albatross and Ramsden Old Boys met a refreshed Swanley Cardinals who whopped them 2-6. My tip Medway Lions won 8-4 against Sporting Sydenham and Coney Hall thumped AFC Lessa Christchurch 9-0. Woodvale Wanderers were beaten 2-3 by Chequers Reunited and Petts Wood Res also had problems as they went down 0-1 to EC United. Lombard Phoenix lost out 3-4 to Ex Blues after 1-1 at full and extra time whilst The Flames scolded London City 1-2 in a good win. Otford Colts met FC Wasps in good form as the latter won 2-3 and finally EPR A could not keep up with the rest of the club as they went down 1-2 to Bromley Eagles.

There were a few League games today as well. In Div 4 Midway Res were forced to share the spoils 2-2 with Vikings and in Div 5 Cudham United Res took no prisoners as they beat Bromley Rovers 6-0. The old lags at Keston Rovers wheezed out into the New Year as they had a good 2-2 draw with Beckenham Imps was this Tony Storers last game I ask ????? Did he have a bonfire and burn his boots ????

Finally, in the Kent Cup, Lessa Albion Res. interest was ended when they went down 0-6 to Royal Charlotte
