BLACKPOOL MECHANICS 0 ECCLESHALL 2

Saturday 6th January 2007
North West Counties Division 2
Blackpool Mechanics 0 Eccleshall 2
Eccleshall returned to winning ways with a comfortable win over the seasiders. Eccleshall took the lead in the first minute as Jimmy Dunn waltzed through a static Blackpool defence to score with ease. Blackpool could have equalised but Paul Thompson placed his shot wide of the target, after ten minutes. Eccleshall dominated play afterwards and Josh Wood in the Blackpool goal was tested on several occasions. Blackpool were unlucky on the half hour when one of their rare advances created a chance for Stephen Hughes but he saw his effort cleared off the line. Eccleshall again took charge and only Oliver Warrender knows why they didnt. Warrender had made progress into the box and received a cross two yards out but with the keeper nowhere put the ball wide of the target.
Half-time 0-1
Eccleshall started the second half in dominant mood and pushed Blackpool back with Matt Mills and Jimmy Dunn creating the openings but were lacking the quality to finish the game off. The long awaited second goal came after 70 minutes when Charlie Reeves sent Matt Mills away down the right, his cross finding Jimmy Dunn on the far post to head home. Dunn should have had a hat-trick minutes later after a similar move but this time headed just over. Chris Rowley had the ball in the net but was ruled offside after some good passing movements. Eccleshall finished the game how they started, in complete charge to keep promotion hopes on course.
