Mark Beards well timed run and finish ensured John Barlows Enfield reign started with a victory at Peel Park.

Chris Nolans finsh after a lay-off from striker John Howarth put Enfield ahead, but George Culls equalised within minutes to level things up.

Enfield went into half time 2-1 up. A score which flattered Peel Park with Howarth hitting the post and his team mates missing a host of chances to seal the game early on.

Half time saw the introduction of new signing, Chris Leeming, who lasted less than a minute after a collision with an opposing player left him with a broken jaw.

Enfield produced even more chances in the second half, but a mixture of poor finishing and bad luck meant that the final few minutes became a real scrap.

Committed Peel Park saw their team reduced to ten men when their full back was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Enfield managed to hang on to the victory and claim three points in the opening day local derby.
