Notts Minor Cup Round 2 - Fat Cat 2 Leverton Utd 3
17 October 2010 | Craig Holland
Leverton United progressed to the next round of the Notts Cup with a victory over Fat Cat.........
A competitive start by both sides saw Cats closing United players down, and not allowing them any time on the ball.
Cats took the lead on the half hour when United failed to track runners and a cross was nodded home by Haseman from close range.
Cats soon went 2-0 up from the penalty spot when Jacobs scored.
Walker and Evans in the Leverton midfield worked hard to get United back in the game.
Good work down the right wing by Rice resulted in a throw in by the corner flag. Evans took a long throw which was headed home by Mason.
Leverton started the second half better, with Pashley and Paul Falkiner going close.
Leverton soon scored the equaliser when a long throw by Will Evans was parried in to his own goal by the Cats keeper.
The game was now evenly balanced but it was United who looked the most likely to add to their tally.
Eagling and Falkiner both came close before United edged in front when the consistent latter was sent clear, rounding the keeper and firing in from a tight angle.
With 15 minutes to go, the Leverton defence of Chappell, Mason, Prior and Tuddenham held firm to give United a good away cup win.
Levertons man of the match award, sponsored by J J Highfields, went to the hard working Will Evans
