Mr Hatchett Lends A Hand!

It must have been a stroke of genius or a premonition when I approached Mark Hanly at training last week and asked him to complete a registration form. I told Mark that I was not going to take a fee from him for signing on, because I was not sure when he`d get a game, but he would definitely feature before the end of the season and the deadline for registrations is at the end of this month.

Mark has been a fantastic supporter of the team since coming along to the early pre-season training and then coming to nearly all of the matches this season.

However, I certainly wasnt expecting him to make his debut on Sunday just gone. Even more so, I didn`t foresee it happening with him going in goal for the match against Greenacres II Res...................

Having found out on the morning of the match that Ryan would not be going in goal, I asked Mark if he could play in goal and I should have expected the answer of `yes`. Of course he would. This guy will play anywhere. Mark has been a breath of fresh air around the club all season.

Mark has trained with us all season, hardly missing a Wednesday night. his enthusiasm is superb. He likes the banter with the lads and works hard. So it was no surprise that he agreed to go between the sticks, help the lads out and make his debut.

Reports from the Captain are that Mark done really well in the match and letting in only 4 goals on your debut when you are especially playing with only 10 men in the second half is a pretty decent response.

I have no doubt that all the lads appreciated Mark`s efforts on Sunday and we`ll be looking to get him more game time before the season completes.

Top Man!
